Cambridge Rangers Pedal to Patrol for Safety

Janine Roets
Town of Cambridge

Cycling is the latest mode of patrol for Town of Cambridge Rangers, who commenced regular patrols by bicycle in high traffic areas around Lake Monger, Perry Lakes and along the beachfront.

The Town introduced cycle patrols to allow Rangers better access to areas typically more difficult to reach in vehicles.

This type of patrol also offers the opportunity for increased interaction between residents and Rangers at a more approachable and friendly level.

In addition to increased safety, the Town introduced the patrols to encourage sustainable and active transport methods in the community.

Small bicycle first aid kits have been purchased to reward cyclist who are doing the right thing. Stickers and signs will be placed along high risk areas to encourage respect whilst enjoying the outdoors.

Hi Janine - what a fantastic structural change at the Town! You have earned 60 points for this initiative plus a bonus 10 for making it a good read. I bet the rangers are also enjoying the increase numbers of smiles they get now!
