Culture Capture

When everyone is so busy, it can sometimes be difficult to set up specific advocacy teams outside of the 'normal' workplace routine to educate, promote and encourage staff to get more involved in active and public transport alternatives. So rather than set up 'another working group' at the Town of East Fremantle, we are looking at partnering with our Culture Club.

Our Culture Club holds a schedule of events over the year to (amongst other things) improve internal communication and enhance workplace culture. It searches out opportunities and ideas to embed the Town’s RITE (Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Empathy) values.

Through the voluntary Culture Club committee, it may be possible to seek out staff attitudes to non-vehicular travel alternatives through surveys and to organise events that include things like bicycle repair workshops and ride (bus or bike) to work breakfasts.

In this way it is hoped to demonstrate that these sorts of activities will eventually become part of our everyday work culture.

Great thinking Stacey! This sounds like the perfect way to lever your capacity and to benefit from the synergy of your Culture Club. It makes me wonder if Boy George will soon be out on a bike in East Freo 😂. You have earned 50 points for finding a smart way to effectively have a working group in a small organisation. I have also given you 10 points for explaining all the details.
