Our Walk, Ride, Scoot To School Wednesday Competition Is Well Underway!

This week, an article was placed in our school newsletter encouraging our families to choose active transport to and from school. As we are aware, walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for some families, so we provided a few ideas to build active transport into their daily routine, including:

• Park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way
• If catching the bus, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
• Join the Victoria Park Primary School Walking School Bus

Although we strongly encourage active transport every day of the week at Victoria Park Primary, Wednesday is our competition day when classes from Year 1- 6 are asked to complete a Walk, Ride, Scoot survey. The class with the highest percentage of students using active transport is announced at our Monday Morning Assembly. The winning class is presented with a certificate and keeps Dino, our friendly ‘Your Move’ mascot, in their classroom for the week. At the end of the year, students in the class that won the most often, will all receive a Your Move water bottle.

Week 3 Winner: Year 4 Room 3 (72% of students using active transport)

Week 4 Winner: Year 4 Room 3 (72% of students using active transport)

Week 5 Winner: Year 5 Room 2 (76% of students using active transport)

Week 6 Winner: Year 1/2 Room 14 (81% of students using active transport)

Week 7 Winner: Year 5 Room 1 (76% of students using active transport)

Week 8 Winner: Year 5 Room 1 (76% of students using active transport)
