Introducing Your Move at Assembly

Today, at our Monday Assembly, our Your Move champion and our Deputy Principal presented to the students in Years 1 to 6 at assembly about some exciting new initiatives starting at Wellard Primary School.

We gave a brief introduction into what YourMove is and how our key focus in implementing YourMove is on physical exercise and movement, and safety.

Our students were so excited to hear about our new active travel day called Walking 'n' Wheeling Wednesdays where students who walk to ride to school will be acknowledged for their efforts to get to school safety with a raffle ticket. Each fortnight, one active transport student from year group clusters will be pulled from a drawer and given a prize. We will also be heading out in the mornings on random days to acknowledge those walking and riding to school consistently and handing out raffle tickets.

All students who ride bikes or scooters to school will only be acknowledged if they are wearing a helmet as we want to encourage students to be walking and riding to school safely.
