A 6 week ‘Ride Nation’ bike education program kicked off at WDPS last week for years 3 – 6. It was fabulous to see the reduction in traffic congestion around the school as so many students actively travelled by bike ready for their lesson. The kids were full on enthusiasm to make the most of a different PE lesson, developing their skills and confidence on their bike so they can enjoy riding safely to school.

Chris - you are doing a great job linking your stories to the correct activities! Correctly linking this to "Bike Ed" has earned you 80 points! Was the reason for running the sessions for the younger kids on the weekend so that parents could help out? If so, did that work out well?

Hi James - We ran the workshops on the weekend prior to the commencement of the Bike Ed program to provide an opportunity for parents to upskill their children in preparation for the class sessions (e.g. if they needed to build their confidence or access their current skill level). It was also a means of attracting parent volunteers for the bike ed sessions and the other upcoming cycling activities and this was successful in recruiting two additional volunteer helpers.
