Dads & Kids Ride - Great Success!

The WD40 Dads Group conducted a group bike ride for students and their Dads as part of the Fathering Project's commitment in taking a leadership role with the school's Your Move program. Over 80 students and Dads (plus 2 Mums) took part in the supported 7.5km ride from the school. The ride took in some of the great bike infrastructure in the local area and riders enjoyed the fantastic ocean views from City Beach. The children were able to demonstrate and consolidate skills gained through the ongoing bike education program at the school in a real traffic environment. This included group riding skills, road and path riding etiquette and how to manage road crossings. Such a large display of children riding on local streets sent a strong, positive message to the local community in the promotion of active travel. It was encouraging to witness the level of respect from some motorists towards the group. We hope that rides of this nature will pave the way for bike riding to be a 'normal' activity for our children.

It must have been quite a sight and an extremely positive experience for all involved Chris. You have earned 40 points for the activity plus 10 for your engaging writeup of the day. Great to hear that so many participated.
