Spreading the Word about Your Move

Since Wembley Downs Primary School signed up to be a part of the Your Move Program the support and the results have been amazing. The whole school community is getting on board which we think is one of the reasons WDPS are having such a strong take up. The school staff and teachers, the kids, the WD40's (our Dads group) and the P&C are all contributing to making sure that all of our kids are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to and from school. We are definitely seeing a reduction in traffic around the school which is awesome, the kids' bike skills have improved and of course we are all getting more exercise. A total win win win!! Letting everyone know about what we have been doing and what we have planned has been key to the growth in Your Move. Publishing regularly in our school newsletter, via direct notices to parents and utilising our P&C's highly followed Facebook page has really added to the momentum and excitement. Our kids love hearing all about the program and how we are tracking on the state leaderboard. With plenty of things planned for Term 2, we expect more kids will walk, ride or scoot to school leaving us with one small (but welcome) problem - we are going to need more bike storage!!
