On 29th October, White Gum Valley Primary School held a special Ride to School Day.

With the weather starting to warm up, it was a great opportunity to encourage travelling to school using pedal power!

Lots of students and their parents dusted off their bikes to ride to school for the day. Some even rollerbladed!

Platters of fruit and rice crackers and hummus were provided to students at school for a healthy start to the day, with the school’s Your Move Ambassadors assisting with preparing the food.

Students who rode or walked to school entered a raffle. Students also entered a drawing competition to ‘Design Your Dream Bike’. Some of the marvellous machines included propellers, multiple-stories and jet packs! (Stay tuned for our next generation of transport inventors – they have some incredible ideas!)

The prize winners received Your Move umbrellas (modelled below by our wonderful Your Move Ambassadors), bike pumps, slap bands and colouring-in activity books (some of the rewards that our school has been lucky enough to earn).

The event also coincided with the school’s celebration of World Teacher’s Day. The Your Move ambassadors made some special fruit salad cups for the teachers, and children wrote messages to their teachers in chalk on the pavement.

All-round, the school community had a wonderful healthy and creative start to the day!
