Ten Tiny Things Competition

WPS used some of our reward points to purchase the book “Ten Tiny Things” by Meg McKinlay. We loved the story so much that we create a competition about it. The Ten Tiny Things Competition!! Students were asked to walk, ride or scoot to school and look for ten tiny, interesting things along the way. They then completed an entry form listing these (drawings for the juniors) and put their entries in the Your Move mail box. It was great to see the excitement about this competition and inspire students to walk, ride or scoot to school in this cold weather! We were able to give out a bunch of fabulous prizes – also purchased with our reward points!

Hi Julia - it is a beautiful and inspiring book isn't it? Was the competition run over several weeks or days? It'd be lovely to see some of the entries you received.

Hi James. Yes it is a lovely book that we all enjoyed. The competition was initially run over 2 weeks but due to the rain, we extended it for another two weeks. At the end, we had a parent comment that they loved the idea and would like us to run it again in better weather - so it's in the planning!! I did take a photo of some entries and of some of the winner but forgot to add those pictures in ;(

As some famous animals said once - "4 weeks better than 2"! If you send me the photos I can add them to the story if you like. I'll drop you an email shortly. Even though this was an individual comp I have linked it to the class comp activity. The idea is the same - to provide a motivation for kids to focus on increasing their AT levels over a period of time, so it has given you 60 points for the activity, rather that 40 for a one day event.

I've also given you 15 points for the innovative idea of linking the book to an extended campaign as well as 10 points for outlining how it all works.
