Celebrating National Walk Safely to School Day

We scored a glorious autumn morning for National Walk Safely to School Day today, and 84 students took advantage of the sunshine to either join one of two group walks or to walk from home. This is a super impressive number given that we have so many regular riders these days! The Your Move student team had their first assembly presenting role and performed brilliantly. As well as drawing out 3 lucky winners for Walk Safely to School Day prizes, they also gave an active transport update and encouraged students to keep our momentum as winter gets closer. Well done team!

The weather was my first thought too after seeing lots of Perth NW2SD photos and LOTS of umbrellas and rain coats 🤣! I'm glad to hear that 84 students had a lovely sunny walk to school - helping to earned Albany PS 40 points for the event. Your team also earned 25 points for their assembly debut and you Andrea also earned 10 points for giving a good Friday afternoon read! Enjoy the sunny times again tomorrow 😎.

Oh yes did it tumble ever so gently, Andrea! Thank goodness for super YM umbrellas saving the day! Our new Deputy helped us out at one of our hosted walk locations & returned to school looking rather soggy but with a smile on her face! Co-incidentally she is an Andrea & an excellent fit for YM with her rain, hail or shine attitude! Beautiful sunshine today!
