What a day for Walk Safely to School Day!

When most Albany Primary School families got out of bed this morning, they probably couldn’t see much further than their front fence - there was a thick layer of fog right across town! It made for a very exciting start to the day, but fortunately it lifted to reveal an absolutely glorious morning for Walk Safely to School Day. We had one main group walking from Bob Thompson Gardens, with more than 50 students and family members walking with the Your Move student team and a couple of wonderful Albany Police officers. Another group walked from Strawberry Hill Farm, and lots more walked from home.

We also remembered to say a special thanks to our amazing traffic wardens on the way to school, to acknowledge the important part they play in helping us get to school safely every day!

The Your Move student team did a fantastic job handing out raffle tickets to walkers, and then following up at the assembly with an active transport update, and drawing out 3 lucky winners from the raffle.

It looks like a lovely day Andrea. Thanks for including a little bit of Dog Rock in the photo too - brings back wonderful childhood memories 😊. You have earned 40 points for getting involved in NWS2SD, 25 for the assembly and 10 for all the details. Did you use the certificates or any other resources from the 'Thank Your School Traffic Warden Day' site? If it was an 'official' school campaign let us know a little more (another story?) and you could get some more points! Have a lovely weekend 🙂
