On Friday the 11th September Currambine Primary participated in National Walk Safely to School Day. The number of students walking to school was outstanding. It was estimated that almost three quarters of all students walked to school on that day. “Kiss and drop has never been so quiet” commented one of the staff. The Cocky Crew were manning the gates and giving out stickers All students who walked to school went in to the draw to win a National Walk Safely to School Day t-shirt.

Leading up to the day there was a lot of in school promotion including a presentation at assemblies, announcements each lunch time and the teachers in class rooms showing a small power point presentation to students and having a discussion about the importance of daily exercise. The day was a great success and it is hoped that this will encourage more and more students to regularly walk to school instead of clogging up the Kiss and Drop.

3/4 of students participating is an impressive result and the anecdotal evidence of the K&D being empty is a testament to your team's efforts. You have earned 40 points for your WS2SD event and another 22 points for your in-class promotion of active travel. You even got a little 5 point bonus for sharing your participation rate. Let's hope that beautiful blue sky you had on the day dominates the upcoming rain forecast!
