Breakfast sponsored by IGA

After a last hurrah for Ride to School Day, and in the absence of a dedicated Active Travel Officer, the City of Belmont's budget could no longer support our tradition of hosting a breakfast event each term. Regardless, Carly Grapes, the Healthy Communities Officer was very helpful in providing some local contacts who might be able to provide our school with continued support.

I dropped into our local IGA and chatted to Tony, the Owner, who was more than happy to provide support to encourage the local kids to walk safely to school more often.

Having a healthy breakfast available to students on an event day helps to support families who are not used to the routine of active travel. They can leave home that little bit earlier and enjoy the journey knowing that breakfast is sorted upon arrival.

To show our gratitude, the Your Move Student Team presented Tony with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Hi Lindi! Thanks for sharing how you have worked around a change of the funding availability from City of Belmont. It is good news that Tony at your local IGA is so supportive. You have earned another 10 points for sharing these extra background details of your NWS2SD event.
