National Ride to School Day (1)

On the 19th of March St Augustine Primary School participated in National Ride to School Day. We had great assistance from our supporters, with Emma from Bicycle Network providing posters and stickers for the day and the City of Belmont providing breakfast for our students as extra encouragement of active travel.

This was the first event that the Yr 6 YourMove Team hosted, and they took to the task with fantastic enthusiasm. As each active traveller came through the school gates, they were adorned with stickers, fruit and yoghurt pouches.

The celebration of the day was shared with Harmony Day and the students were highly visible on the roads and footpaths in their bright orange clothing. There was a great community buzz in the atmosphere.

We conducted a hands up survey on the day and discovered that more than half of the students at the school either walked, scooted or cycled on the event day!

The YourMove team held a raffle where active travellers were rewarded with items from the yourmove rewards shop.
