Creating Accessibility & Planning Ahead.

This week our student leaders have allocated ambassadors for each of the primary schools in the catchment. Working alongside our Year 6 Transitional Coordinator, Mrs Jackson, they’re currently locating safe walking paths, bike tracks and public transport from the primary schools to Warnbro Community High School. The ambassadors for each school are as follows:

Koorana Primary School: Dakota and Cameron
Rocky Lakes Primary School: Callum and Ashleigh
Endeavour Primary School: Nakyta and Courtney
Warnbro Primary School: Ethan and Kimberly
Port Kennedy Primary School: Lilliela and Emily

This work will allow our leaders to create an access guide detailing the various ways that upcoming Year 7 students can travel to school. We’re excited to see the routes they find, and we have showcased their efforts on our school Facebook page.

Stay tuned for next week with more updates, as well as pictures of our ambassadors and all the work they have been doing!

Looking ahead, Warnbro Community High School is gearing up to participate in World Bicycle Day and World Environmental Day on June 3 and 5. Although mass events/gatherings are still not allowed due to COVID-19, our school and leaders are dedicated to making the most out of the situation when it comes to promoting healthy lifestyles/travel. One of the initiatives brought forward was to schedule a school clean-up for World Environment Day and, as featured below, we're already getting some supplies in order!

Hi Cassandra - thanks for sharing your team's upcoming plans. I really like the idea of mapping out the routes from the primary schools in your catchment - this is a great innovation to help with the transition to high school. As this is the first story to write about that idea I have given you 15 innovation points. Unfortunately I can't give you the points for starting a student team as you already earned points for that in your story of 11 March. Make sure you let us know how your plans come together - as once an activity is actually conducted we can then award you points for that.
