Paid Parking at Bethesda

Bethesda introduced paid parking for day staff to alleviate parking issues and traffic surrounding the campus. To log parking, we implemented an in house terminal which is linked to our payroll system.

The Town of Claremont Ranger Services assist with compliance by monitoring parking bay usage against logged entries.

We have both onsite and offsite paid parking available. Staff who choose to walk the 7-8 minute journey from Times Square on the other side of Stirling Hwy to the campus are rewarded with a discounted daily parking rate. Analysis shows that the discounted off-site park and walk option has been growing in popularity since it's commencement. In the first quarter that it was implemented in 2019 5% of parking transactions were from Times Square and now in 2022 18% of parking transactions are from Times Square.

Our secure bike cage was installed in our onsite underground carpark to coincide with the introduction of paid parking in order to further encourage active travel to our workplace.

Hi Lindi - this is a very interesting arrangement you have in place with Town of Claremont - is it complicated at all to coordinate with the Rangers? It is good news that the incentive to 'park and walk' seems to be working 😊. You have earned 80 points for having a paid parking system and 10 for sharing those insights.
