Bike Month 2021 - Fremantle Wrap Up

We had amazing weather for our last Bike Month event at South Beach on Saturday, with the community coffee and ride. We had free bike tune ups, learn to ride and coffee and food vouchers for the local cafe, as well as prizes including bike shop vouchers and local bike tours. Cycling Without Age were there showing people the great things they do, and City staff on hand to answer riding queries, hand out maps, give tips on good local rides and upcoming path, transport projects and planning Over 200 people came through including our new Mayor, Hannah Fitzhardinge on her brand new bike and South Ward councilor and local rider Marija Vujcic. We teamed up with the Parks and Landscape team who ran a community engagement session about South Beach facilities - which helped with getting more people to the event. Lessons learnt - organise a more formal community bike ride to explore the great coastal bike routes and local bike demos (next year).

It looks like a great event to round off Bike Month Gavin - and nice to see a couple of familiar faces down there too 😍! You have earned 50 points for your skills sessions, 50 for the tune ups, 25 for your promo of active travel and 10 for clearly sharing how it all worked. I look forward to your 2022 coastal bike routes tour and demos!
