Now that Walk to School Wednesday is a regular routine, the school has decided to throw in another fitness opportunity. Our amazing PE teacher, Ms Townsend has set up an early morning Running Club. Eager students arrive at 7.45am to log laps and use their QR code individual passes to keep track of how many they do each week.

A big shout out to parents who, once again, support this initiative by making sure their kids are up and moving early, ready to hit the oval at the school and do their laps. It’s great to see parents encouraging students as they head around the oval. These opportunities to run together build belonging and resilience. Another great step forward for Piara Waters!

Thanks for sharing this Irma. I love the use of QR codes - does an adult scan the codes each time a student does a lap? What is the app you use? I could see this potentially also being used to record participation for active travel days like your Walk to School Wednesdays. We love anything that helps kids stay active, so a big thumbs up for your running club - I can give you 10 bonus points for sharing these helpful details, but unfortunately can't give you points for the actual club as it is not directly related to active transport.
