Last Friday, White Gum Valley Primary School students across the school – from Pre-primary to Year 6 – walked, scootered or rode some or all of the way to school.

The event was the second of the school’s travel to school breakfasts, to encourage students to walk or ride to school.

Many of the younger children travelled with their parents. Other families parked their car at a local park and walked the rest of the way to the school.

Students who rode or walked to school were able to participate in a free raffle. Over 100 children did so, and all of the school’s bike racks were full!

Raffle prizes included gel pen sets and ‘Your Move’ umbrellas.

Students were greeted with a breakfast snack including watermelon, mandarines, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, apples and savoury rice biscuits.

Because it was the 28 of October the event was held on the same day as World Teachers’ Day. Everyone who signed for the raffle wrote a thank you note to their teacher and pinned it up on the board. Later these were provided to the teachers.
