On 20 October 2021, Baldivis Secondary College was awarded with a Connecting Schools Gold Grant valued at $2,499.00.
Using equipment that is safe and in good working order is essential for successful bicycle excursion. The funding was allocated to the servicing and repairs of the college’s fleet of 24 mountain bikes. The fleet was collected for works on the 16 December by Thorsten Goedick from People on Bicycles.
People on Bicycles provided a comprehensive bicycle safety checks as well as repairs, which included:
• brake and gear adjustments,
• shift/brake cable and pad replacements if required,
• drive-train lube service,
• tyre pressure and tube fixing
All bicycles received a detailed service checklist with repair advice.
The bikes were returned in outstanding condition for our Year 11 Outdoor Education class to participate in an excursion to Marinup Mountain Bike Trail in Holyoake.
We would like to thank Carol- Ann Prinsloo, Alliance Program Office at the Department of Transport, for this fantastic opportunity. It has relieved financial pressure on our budget and provided an important opportunity for our students to continue to safely participate in Mountain Biking, aligned with the Outdoor Education Curriculum.

James (Your Move)
Welcome back to Your Move, Alison and everyone at Baldivis SC 😁. Thanks for sharing what great use you have put your 2021 Connecting School Grant to. That has earned you 40 points. You have also earned 40 points for your excursion to Marinup Mountain Bike Trail. It is lovely to see how the CS grant facilitated the ongoing use of the school's MTB fleet. Thanks too for attached the slideshow - what was that used for (potentially more points!)?
