City of Stirling gets Smart(Riders)

The City of Stirling Executive team recently agreed to offer all staff SmartRider cards. Staff will be able to use these cards for both City business and personal use. Staff will be responsible for preloading fares on the card and can then claim reimbursement for business trips.

Whilst we already have a handful of cards available for staff use they are centrally located and the hope is that by simplifying the process we will see an increase in public transport use. There is lots of evidence that owning a public transport card increases peoples likelihood of using PT so hopefully we see that effect at Stirling for both business and personal trips!

We still have lots of the finer details to work out but this is a great first step for the City!

Hi Sam. Great to hear that Stirling has got the Smarts! We'll be following this with interest - it will be particularly interesting to hear how staff find the process of claiming back the business trips (compared I guess to the alternative to have the SmartRiders only for work use, with no need to make a claim). I'll be staying tuned! You have earned 50 points for your SmartRider program and 10 points for giving us the details.
