This year has been especially challenging for many, so Fiona Stanley Hospital held a number of activities for patients, visitors and staff for this year’s R U OK? Day (Thursday 10 September). One of these activities was an early morning run and walk which saw approx. 50 staff travelling approximately 3-4 km around the hospital’s footpaths. Many staff reported that this was their first time walking or running around the site.

The event highlighted that physical activity such as running or walking can be a great way to stay mentally healthy. Staff are encouraged to continue to walk or run with their colleagues or teams so that they can share conversations that help them in their work. The event also promoted active commuting to the site by sharing of maps as well as the end of trip staff shower and locker facilities.

Thanks for letting us know all about your R U OK? Day Nadine. I have to admit it is the first time I have heard of the event - but it is a great concept and you have linked it in well to active travel. You have received 25 points for distributing maps and AT info and another 25 points for promoting your end of trip facilities.
