Promoting Walk, Ride, Scoot To School Wednesday!

The Victoria Park Primary School Monday Morning Assembly has been taken to a new level as our ‘Your Move’ Champions include some engaging ideas to promote our active travel competition and motivate students to get involved.

Although we strongly encourage active transport every day of the week, Wednesday is our competition day when classes from Year 1- 6 are asked to complete a Walk, Ride, Scoot survey. The class with the highest percentage of students using active transport is announced at our Monday Morning Assembly. The winning class is presented with a certificate and keeps our friendly ‘Your Move’ mascot in their classroom for the week.

Check out our Champions promoting the Walking School Bus as they make their way up to the lectern to announce the winning class, in their own walking school bus! There is much anticipation as students wait to hear who the winning class will be!

Hi Leanne. What a great idea! Fantastic! Not only a weekly survey, but also a weekly assembly exposure to ALL the kids and parents on YM active transport. I love the pic of the little walking bus and it is so FUN for the kids. 🚌 A real, stuffed mascot in their classroom for the week, too. 🧸 What more could the kids wish for?!
