The Team distributed the Race Around Australia maps during our YM session this afternoon. Classes are to decorate them & return by Friday, 7th August, but with strict instruction NOT to mark the boxes!
Once the Team returned, we set about working out the prizes (which have just been ordered!) After discussing & finalising the prize list, the Team used the rest of the time to work on the promotional posters which will be displayed around the school.
As we are using our weekly Hands-Up data, once the maps are returned we can get the maps up to date with the H-U already collected for this term. The Team has already predicted that it will take 4 to 6 weeks (of H-U data) for the first class to race right around Australia. This prediction was based on looking at current H-U counts for classes. Watch this space to see how accurate the prediction was!

I love the concentration on those faces! Your team session preparing for the Race Around Australia has earned you 15 points for term 3, plus a bonus 10 for filling us in on how the challenge will work. Remember once it is in full swing you can earn points for the challenge itself too!

Thanks, James. We will certainly keep you posted! The Team was so pleased with the response to our Active Travel Footprint last term (over 90% class participation) there was no stopping a class competition for this term!

Go for it,Julia! It is just a generic map to which we added the boxes, RAA, Room & North compass point! If you check in Resources, you'll also find a map in Walk Around Australia. The Team has been really pleased with the response from the classes; nearly 100%. We also asked classes to adorn their maps to give ownership to them. The results were just delightful. Let us know how you go.
