Networking in the City of Rockingham.

Last Monday, YM schools in the City of Rockingham met for Term 3. This time we were in for a special presentation by a Champion from another city (Belmont). Thank you Lindi, for your informative presentation on Park(ing) Day. I was especially interested in the origins of the day. I must say I astounded to hear the main reason for Park(ing) Day (for St Augustine's) was the lack of green space at the school. We here in the City of Rockingham are fortunate to have/share ovals of "green space" at our schools.

We were also joined by Jeremy, via Zoom, Oakwood PS Champion in the City of Mandurah. Jeremy has been a driving force in raising the awareness of road safety & bringing about YM initiatives in Mandurah.

Carol-Ann gave us updates from YM HQ, especially regarding grants coming up this month. We were also introduced to Kelly, now part of YM through the Road Safety & Drug Education Branch (SDERA came off the tongue so much more easily!) This is such a good fit as both go to core of keeping our youth safe & road safety AWARE.

Kieran updated us on the progress of the Wayfinding stencils. We look forward to seeing the finalized result on our paths (definitely a photo opportunity!) A number of different activities for Bike Month are being planned & these are inspiring as different parts of the community are being involved from youngsters right through to adults who just want to get back on a bike. I am sure, come BM, that Kieran will be posting some interesting stories!

Here at Warnbro, we reported on the Team's success of the presentation to the Principal, albeit in an evolved form & our plans for Winter Walk to School Week (just think Big Foot!) happening in Week 5.

Whether in person or via Zoom, these sessions are always valuable to all who attend. Thank you Kieran for facilitating these sessions & in the process, adding your own touch to them!

Thanks for the big update on the schools' network meeting Arlene. Great to hear all the great stuff everyone is doing. I have it on good authority that Kieren will be posting much sooner than in Bike Month, but rather in the next week or so 😉. You have earned 25 points for attending this session and another 20 for all the interesting details.
