Introduction & Monthly Bike Ride at WSP

Hello, my name is Roger and I work at WSP as a Principal Consultant. I wanted to turn the commute to work into something more enjoyable, productive and beneficial to my health, mind and to the environment. Some weeks ago I started to leave my car at home and take the train instead. This is bringing me the opportunity to walk a total of one hour per day, save money, reduce fuel consumption and reduce the use of vehicles in the daily traffic.

This is a transitional step of habit change. My ultimate goal is to go cycling to the work - if not all the time, at least 3 times a week. And to use the car only when it is strictly necessary, otherwise to go cycling or walking and using public transport.

Last week I had the pleasure of joining my WSP colleagues on a monthly bike ride, for my first time. This was great, cycling around Swan River in the Perth central area. It was an excellent way to practice physical exercise and integrate with my colleagues while having excellent views of Perth CBD looking from Victoria Park and South Perth, as illustrated in my pictures. Hopefully this can motivate more people to do the same, enjoying cycling or walking to the work, also having fun on bike rides with colleagues after work.

Welcome to Your Move Roger! It is great to see WSP back in action on the Your Move site for 2022 😁. Thanks for introducing yourself as a new Champion at WSP - it is always nice to read what motivates our Champions to get involved. Those views are spectacular, especially at sunset - it is one of the many benefits of cycling to the CBD. You have earned 12 points for posting your first story, and 10 points for the details and engaging nature. I understand that another story is forthcoming on the staff ride activity, so I will hold off on allocating points for that just yet. Have a wonderful week!
