Coolbinia's bike education program is coming to a close. It has been an outstanding success. Students enjoyed the sessions and it seems the lessons have impacted on bike riding numbers, as reflected in the bike storage area overflowing with bikes on Ride2School Day! This is an impressive improvement on our Start-of-the-Year hands-up survey! The bike maintenance and bike education sessions were funded by our Connecting Schools grant. The school is most grateful for this support.

Another impact of the bike ed sessions relate to student, staff and community awareness of Your Move. Articles about the bike sessions were published in the weekly School Bulletin and Staff Bulletin. Posters were created and displayed around the school. PA announcements about bike ed and other Your Move initiatives were made regularly. Your Move banners and displays were also a feature of Your Move throughout Term 1. These various strategies were important, especially because staff couldn't meet together face-to-face due to Covid restrictions. This meant our staff Your Move PL was not possible in the usual way, however as we have seen, these other methods of promoting Your Move have proved effective with all stakeholders.

For Example: Extract from School Bulletin 16/2/2022: Your Move - Year 4 students in Room 9 are coordinating the school's Your Move activities for Semester 1. The first Your Move team met today and planned the first surprise Fume Free Friday reward day ... coming up soon! Here are the students discussing their plans ... etc.

Extract from School Bulletin 2/3/2022: Your Move - Walk or roll to school! The Your Move team in Year 4 Room 9 has organised a "Colour Your Moves" drawing and colouring competition. The aim of the competition is to promote active travel to and from school. Details can be found on posters around the school. Competition winners will be selected from K-PP, Years 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6. Entries close on Wednesday 30 March .... etc.

School Bulletin 16/3/2022: Your Move - Our school achieved Double Platinum recognition for all our commitment to Your Move in 2021. In brief, the school earned $9,335 worth of rewards and grants for our active participation in the program. For more information about our efforts please click here. The Double Platinum accreditation sticker was placed on the Your Move sign at the front of the school by the 2022 Your Move team. Congratulations to everyone involved for supporting Your Move ... etc.

School Bulletin 30/3/2022: Your Move - National Ride2School Day was celebrated at Coolbinia Primary today. The Room 9 Year 4 Your Move team prepared posters advertising this special day, including bringing a teddy to school for the day for coming to school in an active way. Thanks to all our Your Move supporters ... etc.

Thanks Natasha for your feedback. We achieved so much for YM during Term 1 by being creative and changing our "usual processes" as we adapted to Covid restrictions. It was also fun doing novel, new activities!
