Stencils & Safety

Term 1 Coolbinia PS Your Move students celebrated their service as Leaders at the end of last term by creating chalk stencils on pathways in the school. The stencil drawings included footprints, smiley faces and Your Move promotional words. Amazingly, this chalk artwork remained on the paths for over five weeks!

Over the whole year all our Year 4 students have the experience of being a Your Move Leader for five weeks. So this term we have a new group of Your Move Leaders. They are enthusiastic to do their best to promote Your Move, be outstanding leaders and have fun!

In addition to the regular Fume Free Fridays, Term 2 Your Move Leaders are currently planning for Walk Safely to School Day. At our school it will be held on Wednesday 8th May. The students have created and displayed promotional posters, prepared trays of goodies, like stickers, tattoos, eco tokens and raffle tickets for the day, and selected prizes for 20 raffle ticket winners (6 1st prizes, and 7 each for 2nd & 3rd prize winners with 'Rewards' items). PA announcements have been written and are ready for students to announce on different days before and after the event. Another exciting safety event happening this term is the start of our Connecting Schools grant with bike safety checks and bike education sessions. This funding will be targeting students from both our Year 4 Your Move classes. Bike safety checks are booked for Week 7, while the bike education sessions are from Weeks 8 to 11. After the bike safety checks parents are provided with a report about their child's bike from a safety/maintenance perspective. This reinforces the importance of regular bike safety checks. In addition to the above activities, the Term 2 Your Move Leaders will celebrate World Bicycle Day on Wednesday 5th June when the Connecting Schools grant activities will be underway.

In brief, Coolbinia Primary students will be energetic Your Move movers and shakers throughout Term 2, starting with the Walk Safely to School Day and the regular Fume Free Fridays, followed by Bike Safety/Education and World Bicycle Day. What a grand plan of action by our Your Move Leaders!
