Get on Board with Transperth!

Today Scarborough PS attended day one of the Leadership Labs in Tuart Hill. Instead of driving in a car to the venue, we decided to “Get on Board” and use Transperth and take the public bus. So, we explored the active travel of taking the bus to the YOUR MOVE event!

We planned out the bus route through the Transperth website and I even uploaded the App and looked at timetable to get us there by 8:30am. The journey included quite a bit of walking too! This idea of using Transperth for travel for excursions originated from a Department of Transport guest speaker at the Leadership Lab PD session I attended in the July school holidays. It was on my Your Move plan to do for term 4: planning an excursion using public transport!

We looked at getting a group ticket, purchasing online prior to departure day, and receiving our tickets ready to go for today and again for tomorrow! Such an easy way to pay online, then within minutes of payment, our tickets were emailed!

Even though it was a very early start for our students, meeting at the school we departed at 7:30am to begin our active travel route! Students were excited to take public transport and the team were enthusiastic for the walking part too! It was fun, we participated in our own walk-ride-walk!

Thank you, Your Move, and Transperth we have had a wonderful experience using public transport! All we needed to do is show our paid ticket to the bus driver on both journeys to and from the event. Looking forward to doing the same active travel method tomorrow morning, even though we know there is rain expected.

It is really nice to know that you have implemented an idea from the July Leadership session Sandy 😊 - and one term ahead of schedule too! You have earned 25 points for doing that and another 20 points for your detailed explanation of how it all went. Great to know too that it went so well that you are doing it again for day 2!
