WALGA Ride2Work day

Ride2Work Day was a treat. Despite the hay fever-inducing easterly that threatened to blow everybody sideways, WALGA staff were active on their way to work on Tuesday 31 October. Many of our staff walked, rode or caught the train to work, and the bike locker was much fuller than usual.

In the lead up to the day, we posted a series of active transport stories that featured staff journeys to the office. It was inspiring to hear all the reasons why staff enjoy walking, riding or catching public transport to work.

We had around 50 staff and building tenants join us for morning tea, which included delicious healthy food prepared in house by our amazing team! The WALGA Your Move team spoke about the intent of the program, and how it supports our Thrive program's focus on employee wellbeing.

We used the opportunity to share resources such as the building access guide, and encouraged staff to provide it to visitors attending meetings to promote use of sustainable transport options. We also gave staff a tour of the excellent end of trip facilities available, and purchased a new communal bike pump and repair kit for staff to use.

Around 15 staff tried the eBikes in the courtyard, with several interested in purchasing one. It was a great opportunity to learn more about them from our in house eBike experts!

The vibe of the morning was excellent! A big thank you to the City of Vincent for the loan of four eBikes, and WestCycle for funding our morning tea and raffle prizes.
