Wellbeing Wednesday

WALGA hosted a wonderful Wellbeing Wednesday for staff this month, with lots of fun activities to support health, wellness and a team culture. Staff enjoyed a healthy and nutritious lunch following a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony by Djoona,. Many partook in the yoga lessons, table tennis tournament and classes on photography and sustainable gardening that were on offer throughout the day.

The event provided a great opportunity to promote our focus on sustainable travel to and from the workplace. We held a session on e-scooters, with Beam, a carbon neutral certified micromobility provider, who provided qualified trainers and a number of e-scooters for staff to safely experience.

The e-scooters have a range of 60 km between charges, and are fully charged within four hours. E-scooters are able to travel at up to 25 km/hr on Perth's Principle Shared Path network and roads.

A small number of staff at WALGA own e-scooters and use them on their commute to work. Many staff were new to this technology, enjoyed learning to ride them in our courtyard, before taking a ride around the block in West Leederville.
