The City of Vincent launched their one-year trial period of the E-scooter Share Scheme (ESS) on Pride Fair Day. Event goers left their cars at home, hopped on an e-scooter from their nearest location, and rode to Hyde Park where the City of Vincent first launched their e-scooters.
Talking to the media, the City of Vincent Mayor Alison Xamon shared “The introduction of e-scooters aligns with the Accessible City priority in our Strategic Community Plan, where we aim to be a leader in making it safe, easy, and environmentally friendly to get around our suburbs.”
The City of Vincent has achieved some remarkable outcomes just few months after the official launch. The first one week of the trial reported roughly 2500 trips between both City of Perth and City of Vincent.
By the end of 2023, riders took over 21,700 trips and travelled over 40,900 kilometres. By replacing a car ride with an e-scooter trip, riders have saved an estimated 4.4 tonnes of CO2 emissions in the City of Vincent in 2023 – Source:Neuron
The City of Vincent is hoping to continue achieving positive impacts as part of this trial and seeing a decline in car trips. The introduction of e-scooters is a way forward to encourage active mobility within the community and allow them to travel using green and sustainable transport modes in the future!

Welcome back for 2024 Tariq! What a super idea to coincide the launch with Pride - I imagine it made for quite a spectacle 😃. Great to see you using e-scooters to get more cars off the road. We are currently considering whether e-scooter constitute Active Travel in relation to the Your Move program so thanks for sharing this initiative to prompt our consideration.
